The virtue of Surah Shams
There is no authentic hadith about the virtue of Surat Al Shams, or that it has greater merit than the rest of the surahs of the Holy Quran.
But when we reads it, her virtue is like the virtue of reading the rest of the surahs of the Holy Quran.
There are some hadiths, but they are not authentic, about the virtue of this surah.
Among these hadiths on the authority of Salman Al-Farisi, may Allah be pleased with him, he said (The Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, said:
“Whoever prays on the Day of Fitr after praying his Eid four rak’ahs, in the first rak’ah he will recite Fatihah. Repent and glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High, and in the second morning by the sun, and in the third morning by the morning, And in the fourth, “Say: He is Allah, One.” It is as if he had read all the Book of Allah Almighty to His prophets, and as if he had fed all the orphans, anointed them, and cleaned them. And he will have a reward equal to what the sun rises upon him, and his sins will be forgiven for fifty years.
However, this hadith is among the unconfirmed hadiths, because this hadith was narrated by unknown persons.
There is another hadith that is not authentic, which is on the authority of Ubayy ibn Ka’b – may Allah be pleased with him – that he said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, said (Whoever reads Surah Shams, it is as if he gave in charity everything over which the sun and moon have risen).
It is one of the incorrect hadiths that cannot be attributed to the Prophet, may the best prayers and peace be upon him.
On the authority of Ali bin Abi Talib – may Allah be pleased with him – that the Messenger of Allah – may Allah bless him and grant him peace – said, “O Ali, whoever recites {By the sun and its brightness}, it is as if he recited the Psalms, and for every verse he recites he will have the reward of one who prayed a thousand rak’ahs between the pillar and the Maqam.”
But this is one of the hadiths that cannot be attributed to the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
Surah Al Shams to relieve oneself
Nothing was reported from the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, about the virtue of Surah Shams, and there are no sound hadiths about surah. But reading any surah in the Holy Quran will have a great reward from Allah Almighty.
Surah Ash Shams for the positive effect
Reading the Holy Quran has a good effect on the soul of everyone who reads it. Surah Shams has many virtues.
Surah Shams calls for the Muslim person to purify the soul, especially since it came after Allah Almighty swore about 11 oaths.
Also, Allah Almighty did not swear such an oath in the Holy Quran, and Allah Almighty does not swear except because of something great.
The oath of Allah Almighty was for man to purify himself before anything else, and this is what Allah asked of the Muslim man.
In addition, Allah Almighty warned us against letting a person abandon himself to worldly desires and their pleasures. Allah Almighty warned in Surah Shams that everyone who follows pleasures and desires will be exposed to disappointment and great loss.
Also, Surah Ash Shams came to warn against anyone denying any Messenger from Allah Almighty. The Almighty Allah confirmed that whoever does this will be doomed.
Benefits found in Surah Shams
Surah Al-Shams, like many surahs in the Holy Quran, we did not know about its virtues and the benefits that stem from it.
This is due to the lack of authentic hadiths about the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, talking about Surah Shams. But the virtue and reward of Surah Al Shams bears reading it like the rest of the surahs found in the Holy Qur’an. There is a great reward for reciting every letter in the Book of Allah.
A hadith has come to us from the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, narrated by Abdullah bin Masoud, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said (Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah will have a good deed for it, and a good deed is rewarded ten times as much. I do not say “pain” is a letter, but a thousand. Alif letter, Laam is a letter, and Meem is a letter).

The power of Allah Almighty in the world
At the beginning of Surah Shams, the oath of Allah Almighty comes so that we can see His ability and creativity in creating everything and making it run according to what He wants.
Also, Allah Almighty confirmed in Surat Al Shams that there is nothing that He cannot do.
Allah Almighty’s oath was about the sun, which is considered the most important thing in the solar system. It controls all the planets and an infinite number of asteroids.
In addition, one of the most distinctive features of the sun is that the light coming from it in the morning is very intense.
Allah Almighty mentioned the healthy time in Surah Shams because it is one of the best times in which a person can enjoy the sun without any harm occurring to him.
Then comes after the sun the moon, which is similar to it in clarity, as it is the one that illuminates the world with its voice as soon as the sun disappears.
This is a big thing that raises questions about this large universe, in which it is difficult to cause any disruption except by the will of Allah Almighty. Therefore, Allah Almighty made the alternation of day and night one of the examples that He sets for people. When daylight begins, the sun becomes bright and clear. Then comes the night, which covers the sun.
After that, Allah Almighty told us in Surah Shams about the sky and swore by it and what He built, where Allah Almighty poses this question to the unbelievers. Until the unbelievers are certain that there is no creator except Him, Glory be to Him, so Allah is able to cause them to die and bring them back to life again. Likewise, the greatness of Allah Almighty can be found in the construction of the sky without it having two pillars. Allah Almighty created His creation. Then Allah Almighty spoke in Surah Shams about the earth and the souls and many things that exist on it.
There are sayings that Allah Almighty meant by this that the earth was created by Allah Almighty as flat. So that plants can emerge from between the cracks. This is what causes great goodness and livelihood for man.
What secrets exist in the human soul ?
The human soul is one of the things that has been the subject of most confusion to all scientists. It has always been one of the foundations of the differences between them.
Scientists have always disagreed about the origin of the nature of the human soul, whether good or evil.
For this difference, Allah Almighty swore by the human soul.
Allah Almighty said in Surah Shams that Allah created the soul to be upright, and He modified its creation.
Then after that, he put immorality and piety in the path of every person until he himself was confused about the path he would like to follow.
And when Allah Almighty said in Surah Shams (He who purifies it has succeeded, and he who has neglected it has failed).
Allah Almighty said this thing so that every person would know about the fate of fate that he will meet if he resists desires.
But if he does otherwise and follows his desires, his fate will be disappointment on the Day of Resurrection, Allah forbid.
