Introduction Surah Tariq

Surah At Tariq is one of the Meccan surahs that is located in the last part of the Holy Book of Allah Blessed and Most High. And its number of verses is 17 verses. Whereas, the number of its letters is about 254 letters, and its words are 61 words. It was known among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, as this Surah.

Virtue of Surah Tariq

The same applies to Surah Tariq, like the surahs of the Holy Quran, for which no authentic hadith has been proven from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, regarding its virtue. However, according to many scholars, reciting this surah 7 times would contribute to protecting the Muslim from witchcraft and fear. Other than that, there are weak hadiths mentioned about Surah Al Tariq. Its explanation includes the hadith of Ubayy bin Ka’b, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “Whoever reads it, Allah will give him a reward equal to the number of every star in the sky, ten good deeds.”

It was mentioned in its virtue that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, urged Muadh bin Jabal, may Allah be pleased with him, to recite it in the evening prayer in order to reduce and prevent the burden on the worshipers, and the Prophet was keen to recite it in the afternoon prayer.

Sheikh Muhammad Abu Bakr, the Islamic preacher, reveals the virtue of reciting Surah Tariq seven times. He says, “There is a surah that we must memorize and preserve for our children because of its great virtue. It is a free, divine gift to everyone who suffers from magic, possession, or fear, and it is Surah Tariq.

Muhammad Abu Bakr added during the “Ask with Duaa” program on Al-Nahar TV, that many scholars have said that if anyone who is possessed, bewitched, or afraid reads this Surah 7 times over a cup of water before he sleeps, nothing will bring him closer to him, even if there is something in it. gold.

Reasons for the Revelation

It was stated in the interpretation of Al-Qurtubi may Allah have mercy on him that the reason for the revelation of the first verses of the surah was that the Messenger of Allah – may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Was sitting with his uncle Abu Talib.

While they were sitting, a star fell from the sky and illuminated the earth and filled it with light. Abu Talib was astonished and asked the Messenger of Allah. May Allah bless him and grant him peace: What is this? The Messenger of Allah – may Allah bless him and grant him peace answered him, saying – in what it means -that was a star that was thrown at him, and it is one of the signs of Allah Almighty.

Al-Tariq is a star according to all commentators, but they disagreed about which star that was. Some of them thought that it was the planet Saturn or the Pleiades. Some of them went to another school of thought and did not agree with them.

Al-Farra went on to say that At Tariq is a star in the seventh heaven where there is no one else. He descends to the lower sky when the stars take their places in the sky at night, then returns to his place in the seventh heaven when the stars set. Thus, he knocks when he descends to the lower sky and knocks when he ascends. To the seventh heaven, and he indicated that this is the planet Saturn. And Al-Thaqib is the high one, and this saying was held by other companions, including Abdullah bin Abbas and Ali bin Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with them both.

Benefits of Surah Tariq

There are many supplications mentioned in the noble Prophetic Sunnah from the Messenger – may Allah bless him and grant him peace – that comfort the mind, relieve anxiety, and soothe the chest, including:

The Messenger of Allah – may Allah bless him and grant him peace – said: “The supplication of Dhul-Nun: ‘There is no Allah but You. Glory be to You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.’ It is by which no Muslim has ever supplicated to his Lord about anything except that He responds to it.”

He – may Allah bless him and grant him peace – said one day to Asma bint Umays – may Allah be pleased with her:- “Shall I not teach you words to say when distressed or in distress? “Allah is Allah, my Lord, I do not associate anything with Him.”

What was narrated from him – may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him – is that he said: “No one has ever been afflicted with worry or sadness and said: Oh Allah, I am your servant, the son of your servant, and the son of your female slave. My forelock is in your hand, your judgment continues in me, your decree is just in me.

I ask you by every name that you have given me.” Yourself, or revealed it in your book, or taught it to one of your creation, or kept it in the knowledge of the unseen with you. to make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the remover of my sadness, and the go away of my worry, unless Allah Almighty removes his worry and replaces his sadness with joy.
