Surah Inshiqaq

Importance of Surah Inshiqaq

There were no hadiths specifically mentioning Surah Al Inshiqaq, but reciting it carries a lot of reward like other surahs of the Holy Qur’an.

As mentioned in the hadith of the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, about the virtue of reading the Quran. “Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah will have a good deed for it, and a good deed is multiplied ten times as much. I do not say ‘alif laam meem’ is a letter, but rather alif is a letter, lam is a letter, and meem is a letter”.

In Surah Inshiqaq, Allah Almighty explained some of the horrors that Muslims will see on the Day of Resurrection. This is to be a reminder and a sermon to them. So that they strive to get closer to Allah and stay away from what He has forbidden us before it is too late and the door to repentance is closed.

Also, one of the virtues of Surah Al Inshiqaq is that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to encourage the Companions. All Muslims should read and meditate on the surahs that talk about the Day of Resurrection.

As the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Whoever is pleased to look at the Day of Resurrection as if it were the view of his own eyes; Let him read: “When the sun was rolled up”[8] and when the sky was torn apart”[9] and when the sky was split open”

Surah Inshiqaq is one of the surahs that the Muadh bin Jabal recommended reciting in prayer. This is for the purpose of relieving Muslims during prayer.

Content of Surah Al Inshiqaq

Surah Al Inshiqaq talks about the horrors we will see on the Day of Resurrection. The surah describes what happens in detail so that people learn and return to Allah. 

Allah Almighty described man’s toil in this worldly life in order to obtain sustenance. And what he will receive in the afterlife, whether reward or punishment.

Also, one of the most important purposes of Surah Inshiqaq is that it explains the extent of disbelief.

The hypocrisy of the polytheists is that they deny the noble verses of Allah, and the punishment that will befall them on the Day of Resurrection. 

It also gives good news to the righteous believers who sought to please Allah in this world. Giving them good tidings of the great reward and reward from Allah on the Day of Judgment.

Benefits of Surah Inshiqaq

It was mentioned in some abandoned hadiths that one of the benefits of Surah Inshiqaq is the exemption from having his book given to someone who reads it behind his back. As it was narrated on the authority of the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: “Whoever reads it, may Allah protect him from giving him his book behind his back.”

It was also said about Abdullah bin Omar that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is the best. He said about reading Surah Al-Inshiqaq. Whoever loves to look into the eyes of the Prophet on the Day of Judgment. Many healers use Surah Al-Inshiqaq to relieve pain in the event of poisonous bites.

It was narrated that the Companions used to recite the Surah constantly to protect the animals they owned. Such as horses to protect them from diseases and pests.

Reciting Surah Al Inshiqaq regularly protects homes from sadness and anxiety. Also by writing her verses on the walls of the house.

One of the virtues and benefits of Surah Inshiqaq, as mentioned by Ibn Al Qayyim, is that it facilitates childbirth. Where a woman whose labor is difficult to give birth recites the verses of this over clean water, then drinks from it and sprinkles this water on her stomach. But some sheikhs, such as Ibn al Uthaymeen, disagreed with Ibn al-Qayyim on this matter. As they said that it has no connection to the Sunnah.

Lessons 

Every person will receive compensation for his actions in this world. Whoever fears Allah and seeks to please Him will receive reward and reward in the afterlife for his patience.

Likewise, those who disbelieved in the words of Allah, despite the existence of many evidences and proofs of the existence of Allah, will suffer terrible torment in the afterlife.

The world is a testing ground, so whoever is patient with the fluctuations of conditions in this world, and whatever hardships he encounters, will be rewarded with goodness and reward for his patience and satisfaction with Allah’s will.

As for those who lie and transgress, they will be punished in the afterlife, and Allah will threaten them with severe punishment.

As Allah Almighty said: “You will ride one level after another. (19) But what is the matter with them that they do not believe? (20) And when the Quran is read to them, they do not prostrate. (21) But those who disbelieve deny. (22) And Allah knows best what they are aware of. (23) So give them good tidings of a painful punishment. (24) Except those who believe and do righteous deeds for Him. “A reward beyond hope.” (25)

Conclusion 

At the end of our journey we find that the virtue of Surah Inshiqaq is great and great, as it alerts Muslims to the dangers of the Day of Resurrection. And pushes them to get closer to Allah and distance themselves from what angers Him. And warns the unbelievers who deny His verses of the punishment of the Hereafter. Just as it gives good tidings to the patient people of the great reward.
