Surah Masad (Al Lahab) tabbat yada abi lahab Surah

Surah Masad has 5 verses and was revealed in Mecca (Makkiyyah verses). The name of this surah is taken from the word masad which means twisted coir. In addition, this surah is also called as Al-Lahab. This is because, Abu Lahab and his wife opposed the da’wah brought by the Prophet SAW.

Introduction Surah Masad

Surah Masad talks about Abu Lahab and his wife. Allah blessed them with beauty, wealth, nobility, even in the Prophet’s family and neighborhood. But it was their opposition that was given the most fiercely to the Prophet.

Abu Lahab once threw stones at the Prophet SAW until the heel of his feet bled.

Every Hajj season, Abu Lahab closely follows the footsteps of the Prophet to “counter attack” every preaching done.

After the death of Abdullah, the Prophet’s son, he mocked “Batara Muhammad” and had a party to celebrate.

He also forced his two sons to divorce their respective wives who were the daughters of the Prophet, namely Ruqayyah and Umm Kulthum.

He is the head of the torture committee of weak Muslims, a total of 25 torturers.

His wife Abu Lahab named Urwah bint Harb or Umm Jamil called the Prophet as Muzammam (the accursed)

Five Lessons of Surah al Masad

Here are five benefits of Surah Masad

The future is always true

The Quran is correct when it tells the story of the future such as the defeat of the Jews in the future (al Isra)

It is true that Allah promised Abu Lahab and his wife in hell because they never repented, never had a moment of faith until the moment of death

Allah took over the affairs of the war between Abu Lahab and his wife and the Prophet SAW when they cursed the Prophet on the hill of Safa

Allah announced – based on His knowledge that is perfect – his defeat is not in the world, but languishing and suffering forever in Hell.

Being the only human in the Qur’an whose position in Hell is openly announced.

Materialistic Threat

Reasonable wisdom from Surah Masad: The obstacle to preaching is not the body, but even the materialistic greedy soul after winning that forgets to glorify Allah and humiliates oneself Abu Lahab with his wealth, Umm Jamil with her beauty

Fallen of civilization: materialistic, love wealth and are not happy with the favors of others to the point of insulting and slandering (surah al Humazah)

History always repeats itself

Enemies are always there even in one’s own family: Prophet Noah’s wife, Luth, Ibrahim’s father, Yusuf’s brotherhood.

Surah Masad is the only surah that from beginning to end is about an enemy of Allah and the most strict enemy of the Prophet P.B.U.H because his opposition was fierce from the beginning to the end of his death

Surah Al Masad gives strength to the preacher to face tests from his own immediate family members. Guidance is in the hands of Allah.

Reasonable surah after four Qul explains the issue of which is the fortress and who is the real enemy of the believers. There are three types of infidels.

First, the idolaters alone, already given the argument, do not want to be heard.

Second, idol worshipers and opponents of Islamic teachings. Not enough with polytheism, he prevented the Islamic movement with all his might.

Third, opponents of Islamic teachings and direct insults to the body of the Prophet SAW have gone all out.

The punishment of hell is commensurate and insulting

The punishment of hell corresponds to his actions in the world:

The name of Surah Masad refers to the description of Abu Lahab’s wife who was humiliated in Hell on the Day of Judgment. Corresponding to what he had done to the Prophet in the previous world.

His wife always put thorny tree trunks and placed them in front of the door of the Prophet’s house at night to prevent the Prophet from going out to preach in the morning.

No one will help them in the punishment of Allah in the future even though they are the richest and have the most children in the world.

The name of Surah Masad explains that there are no enemies of Allah and His Messenger but will be humiliated in the Hereafter. In this world, the enemies of Islam may be freed from the punishment that befell the previous ummah, but in the Hereafter they will not be freed.

Meaning of Masad: the name of the surah Masad means twisted rope. It was placed on the group of slaves who worked to find or take firewood for their master. It is a form of insult that occurred during the Jahiliyyah Arab period. So the name of this surah is a metaphor from Allah insulting Abu Lahab’s wife

Envy and revenge are dangerous diseases

Hammalatal Hathab can also carry the meaning of majazi, which is the burner of racism and fanning the flames of hatred of the Arab nation to Bani Hashim and Prophet Muhammad SAW

The Quran does not mention names because it is a metaphor for humans that this disease cluster is long-lasting

It is inappropriate to state that this surah cannot be recited in prayer because it is said that it will break the Prophet’s heart because Abu Lahab is the Prophet’s uncle:

There is no proof that the Prophet was sad when surah al Masad was recited or that the Prophet forbade its recitation in prayer

Conclusion

Allah himself declared that every story of his has an ibrah, so this surah is part of the stories of the Quran. Those of us who do not read this surah to the end will fail to find ourselves in this surah. The perfection of the message of Ibrah in the surah (combination of verses) itself, not the verses that are quoted ” isolated ” from the context of the surah Masad.
